Hi, I’m Rosan, originally from the Netherlands and now happily settled in Pontarddulais, Swansea, where I live with my partner Owen and our five-year-old son, Liam.
I’ve always been a real foodie! Since my very first job at the age of 15, I’ve worked with food or within food businesses, and cooking has been a big part of my life ever since. I love everything about food, from discovering new flavours to creating delicious, nutritious meals from scratch.
After Liam was born (with a stomach condition), I became particularly interested in nutrition and how food can support growing children. This inspired me to study for a Level 5 Diploma in Nutrition, specializing in perinatal nutrition. Alongside this, I worked as a nursery cook in a large day nursery, where I loved creating healthy, tasty meals and snacks for little growing tummies.
It was while working in the nursery that I realized just how much children enjoy being involved with food. Seeing their excitement when they cooked something themselves, and watching even the fussiest eaters become curious about trying new foods was incredibly rewarding.
Joining Cook Stars feels like the perfect opportunity to combine my love of cooking, nutrition and working with children, while helping them develop skills and confidence in the kitchen.
Outside of cooking, I love travelling and exploring different countries. I’ve lived in both Italy and France for a total of five years, so it probably won’t surprise you that Italian food is my absolute favourite! Although, you can’t beat a good Thai curry either.
I’m really looking forward to bringing Cook Stars to Swansea West and Gower and creating a fun, relaxed environment where children can get stuck in, try new things and most importantly, enjoy cooking. I hope to inspire a lifelong love of food and give children the confidence to say, “I made that myself!”
I hope to meet you in one of my classes.
