Growing up within a traditional Chinese family household, both my parents are naturally great cooks. I am fortunate to have been introduced to a wide variety of ingredients and learnt to cook at a young age.
After graduating with a degree in Hotel and Catering Management, I went on to work for 22-years for a large international hotel chain, during which I spent 8 years in London, and finally came back to Manchester as Director of Finance in one of their City Centre hotels. Setting up my own business is something I thought about for some time and when my daughter Eleanor was born in 2015, it gave me a 'kick' to do something about it. I had a 'lightbulb' moment when Eleanor was 18 months old. When I saw her confidently cracking an egg and loved to be so involved in the kitchen, I felt there was a business opportunity to teach other children to learn how to cook. In 2017, I made a tough decision to end my long and illustrious career to set up Cook Stars in Manchester.
Setting up this business was the best decision I have ever made. In less than 12 months, I was proud to be shortlisted for the 'Best for Learning 2019' Hoop award. Also, I got to be invited to host the children cookery tent at the Manchester EAT Food & Drink festival.
To date, Cook Stars Manchester taught over a thousand children in classes, schools and workshops. Both children and parents love our recipes and our themed workshops are a sell out each time. I now have 10 employees including 3 Class Leaders. We are still growing as a team as business continues to develop each day.
My spare time is spent with my daughter Eleanor with days out and of course spending time in the kitchen! It has become our weekly routine to make something together, this is usually our Cook Stars recipe of the week! It's amazing to see how a 8-year old can be so confident and independent around the kitchen!
My guilty pleasure is 'Coronation Street', after all, we are in Manchester!

Cook Stars Juniors
Our classes are very hands-on with everyone making their own dish from scratch!
Every week we make something different with inspiration taken from dishes around the world. With a selection of gorgeous sweet and savoury dishes each week there is plenty of opportunity to learn about different ingredients. With such a variety of dishes we try plenty of different preparation techniques....from icing to dicing we do it all! Find out more

Academy Classes
Cook Stars Academy Classes are suitable for young learners and teens aged 11-17 years old.
Our hands on practical classes teach a variety of techniques and build confidence in the kitchen week on week. Every week we cook something different with a mixture of main courses and puddings. We cook a great variety of foods, for example Indian, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Mexican dishes as well as pies, cakes and puddings. Find out more
