I am a passionate home-cook and there isn't anything that makes me happier than bringing friends and family together, around the table, to share a meal or a homemade treat. I believe that everyone should have the basic skills to produce tasty and nutritious meals from scratch and that we have a responsibility to pass these skills on to the younger generation.

From an early age, I loved everything to do with food and cooking. I was lucky enough to be bought up in a two-generational house and I split my time between making cakes and biscuits with my Grandmother, who was a faultless baker, and cooking with my Mum, who was an accomplished and adventurous cook, always trying new recipes or recreating foods from her travels in the days before she had kids!

I can honestly say that all of my happiest childhood memories involve food in some form - birthday parties with homemade cakes, summer picnics, family barbecues, winter roast dinners and stews that simmered for hours and which would have my mouth watering from breakfast time! When I left home for university, I left armed with a large folder of recipes that my Mum had either typed out, photocopied or hand-written for me. All the family favourites in one folder. I still cherish that folder and often refer to those recipes from my childhood that can evoke such great nostalgia.

I am delighted to find that my love of cooking is passing on to my two children, Jacob and Grace. They have both been in the kitchen with me since they were little tots, although my son is far taller than me now and constantly hungry! At 9 and 13 years old they can both cook simple meals for the family and Grace is becoming a proficient baker, showing far more flair and patience for decorating than me.

Having children has given me lots of opportunities to indulge my passion for cooking over the years. I'm often found baking for the School PTA or getting to stuck into mass catering for the various Brownie and Scout events. This Christmas I even made and decorated over 200 gingerbread cookies with the children at my Daughter's primary school.

I am very excited to be involved in bringing Cook Stars Jersey. I look forward to welcoming you all into one of the many classes, parties and workshops soon.
