Cook Stars

My name is Tracy Smith and worked for Cathy as a class leader for a while before I decided to take on my own franchise!! I run Cook Stars Cardiff and Caerphilly.

I love working for Cook Stars so running my own franchise was a no brainer and I have never looked back.

I have worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years as a manager in hotels, restaurants and stand-alone companies. I worked for Whitbread for 16 years, starting at the ground level and worked my way into management and later for Sir John Fitzgerald.

In addition to this, I am a qualified NVQ assessor in hospitality, catering and customer services and worked for Babcock International in Cardiff, The Vale and the valleys.

In my spare time!!!!.....I am also the club manager at Taffs Well RFC which entails running the day to day business and looking after the catering side, managing the staff (and their training) and building and creating new business opportunities for future club growth. I am also fixtures secretary for the whole mini and junior section which my son is an avid player for.

In my other spare time......(see I have lots of spare time!!) I am a founding member and trustee for the national charity Lynch Syndrome UK which was formed two years ago after I was diagnosed with the genetic condition 12 years ago. I wanted to give patients and families the opportunity to protect themselves and families by providing knowledge and support. We have recently worked with NICE and other national charities to ensure all patients with a bowel cancer diagnosis to be tested for LS (which is a HUGE step forward). Bowel cancer is one of the largest proportions of cancer diagnosis with this condition with another 13 cancers which patients are susceptible to.

In my down time....yep I do occasionally get that, I love to read, swim and travel!! I also played rugby for our ladies team for a while and helped raise over £20k for Giving to Pink, Lynch Syndrome UK and CLAPA South Wales! I have done lots of crazy things in the name of charity including zip wiring from the Transporter Bridge in Newport!!!
