My name is Helen Smith and I own Cook Stars Worcester - covering the Worcester area and WR postcodes.
I am a qualified primary school teacher with over 19 years' experience and started with Cook Stars in September 2016. I devote all my love and time developing, nurturing and growing my wonderful cooking classes.
My husband Mike is a huge part of Cook Stars Worcester. He helps and supports all the daily running operations and works alongside me during the classes. He cooks the food and knows so much about ovens! AND he does ALL the washing-up!
I have a great passion for cooking and I am a complete 'foodie' I love experimenting with recipes and adding my own twist by 'pimping' old and traditional favourites. My mum and gran cooked and baked from scratch and encouraged me too. On Saturday evenings you would find me and my mum in the kitchen covered in flour after our mammoth baking sessions - indeed I was tagged with the nickname 'Cookie' from a very early age!
I am an avid reader and love to immerse myself in a good psychological thriller. I also enjoy science and nutrition information books. I love learning and finding out how food and nutrition research can improve our health. I like to keep active and enjoy an early morning swim at the local baths three times a week. Living close to the Malvern Hills also inspires me to regularly walk up to the summit to appreciate the outstanding and breath-taking views. I have two wonderful sons who love to cook and I so enjoy meeting up with them to share a meal and a 'catch-up!'
After spending nearly 20 years teaching children in schools, I decided it was time for me to fulfil my ambition of sharing my love of cooking with children. I am so thrilled that I can now give children the opportunity to experience the wonder of food and cooking. It's fantastic to see children preparing food and cooking with us - it's a recipe for magic to happen! - as well as gaining a life-long skill and I am loving being part of that!
